Great news!! Congratulations on colour pink. I had my amnio today too, but opted to wait to find out. I should get my prelim FISH results by monday afternoon/tuesday morning. Looking forward to your update that all is fine.
I am happy for you!!! As a 41 year old with a first and, let's face it, last pregnancy, I have been following you and the comments with increased interest ever since your post about the NT. I had to reread several of the posts this afternoon after getting the combined results of my NT and first trimester blood tests today. My risk for Down's is 1 in 77, and the very rude doctor pretty much told me that was an increased risk, handed me the paperwork, and said he did not have time to address any questions. From his very quick verbal rundown of the results I walked out not even being clear on whether or not I had been determined to be at increased risk for trisomy 18. I looked over the paperwork in my car in the parking lot and was fortunately able to tell that the trisomy risk was determined to be negative, and the tech, who was reasonably nice, had told me during the u/s that all of the measurements looked spot on, so I can conclude that blood levels were the issue. Rereading your process in handling this and the comments (thanks everyone) is helping me to be a bit more rational right now. My next step is to call the coordinator for the state program to clarify my options for further screening.
I am so happy for you! Time to take a few deep breaths and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy!!!
